My goal is to cater treatment to each client I meet with to best
address their needs. I use a holistic approach to give each client a variety of tools to improve their quality of life. Some of the
interventions I use most often include Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Goal Oriented Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT).
CBT: Cognitive Behavior Therapy is an intervention that targets negative thought patterns and destructive mindsets and behaviors. CBT works by reframing negative thoughts to positive thoughts and can often achieve visible results within a short period of time.
DBT: Dialectical Behavior Therapy is an intervention that focuses on changing unwanted behaviors. DBT works through learning new skills to regulate one’s emotions. The main goals of DBT are to teach people how to live in the moment, how to deal with stress in a healthy way, how to regulate emotions, and how to improve relationships.
Goal-Oriented Therapy: Goal-Oriented Therapy is used for individuals who are in therapy to focus on one specific objective. Goal-Oriented Therapy is usually cognitive and behavioral in nature and focuses on short term applicable and achievable goals.
Motivational Interviewing: Motivational Interviewing is an intervention that encourages an individual to explore their own reluctance to change. Motivational Interviewing works to elicit a desire for change within an individual by creating a visual image that allows one to see a more evolved version of themselves.
Interpersonal Therapy: Interpersonal Therapy is an intervention that works to improve the quality of relationships and improve social skills in order to reduce relationship derived stress. IPT is often used to explore the links between events and feelings.
